Getting There

Travelling to China for a wedding is a wonderful adventure. Here are the essentials.
Great news: Denmark has visa-free access to China in 2026. For other nationalities, check with your local Chinese embassy or visa center well in advance, as processing can take 1 to 2 weeks.
Fly into Shanghai Pudong (PVG). From there, take the high-speed train to Changzhou, about 1 hour. You can book trains on Trip.com or the official 12306 app.
We recommend the Atour Hotel on Yanling Middle Road (No. 666), Tianning District. Very close to the venue and to Tianning Temple. Modern, clean, and affordable. Book via Trip.com or Booking.com.

Google, WhatsApp, Instagram, and most Western apps are blocked in China. Download a VPN before you travel, or switch to WeChat for messaging. Pick up a Chinese SIM or eSIM on arrival.
China runs on mobile payments. Alipay and WeChat Pay are accepted almost everywhere. International credit cards also work at hotels, restaurants, and larger stores. Carry some cash (RMB) for very local shops and street vendors where cards may not be accepted.
English is limited outside tourist areas. Download an offline translation app before you go. Apple Translate and Google Translate both support offline Chinese language packs.

Late October in Changzhou brings lovely autumn weather, typically 15 to 22°C (59 to 72°F). Bring light layers and a jacket for the evening. Bonus: it is osmanthus (桂花) season, and the city smells incredible.

中华恐龙园
A huge dinosaur-themed amusement park with thrilling rides and real fossil exhibits. Changzhou is known as China's theme park hub. Great for a full day out.
天目湖
About 1.5 hours from Changzhou, this scenic lake is surrounded by mountains and bamboo forests. Famous for fish head soup and tea plantations.
大运河 · 东坡公园
The ancient Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal runs through Changzhou. Visit Dongpo Park, a tranquil riverside spot named after the Song dynasty poet Su Dongpo.
